Before there was Red Kojfe Field, the Green doubled as Dartmouth's ballpark. When Amherst' for. this;ga'me'in 1890, the two schools already had been rivafg for 24 years,. In fact their initial game, in 1866, was Dartmouths'-first intercollegiate sports contest. The good guys lost in a 40-10 thrashing, but baseball on the Green endured as a>rite of spring for three decades.
