After a nearly 20-year absence chariot racing returned to the Green in August during the first Fieldstock festival. Kappa Delta Epsilon, shown here competing with Keggy cheering, won the women's division, while Sigma Phi Epsilon took the men's division. The races went off with less recklessness than in the past- helmets were required—and no injuries were reported. Sophomores and administrators created the event as an alternative to the now-defunct Tubestock gala held on the Connecticut River. Photograph by Jack Rowell
