In this column we feature a unique club offering an opportunity to Dartmouth alumni around the world. The Dartmouth College Club of New York City is the only Dartmouth alumni club with an office suite, a fulltime executive director and use of extensive hospitality and fitness facilities. Given its location in a major international business and cultural center, the club is able to provide services to many more alumni than just those who live in the immediate area. "The DCCNYC has enjoyed a 28-year affiliation with the Yale Club, providing members with a beautiful facility that is centrally located near Grand Central Terminal," according to Barry Weeks 72, executive director. "The 22-story Yale Club features three dining rooms, a spacious main lounge and bar, 140 hotel rooms, fitness center, library, meeting rooms, reciprocity with 46 distinguished clubs around the world and a rich calendar of activities including speakers, seminars and social events. There are three categories of membership: resident, suburban and non-resident.
Here is why this club is important to you. At Club Officers' Weekend in Hanover last March, Bruce Eaken '60, president of the DCCNYC, announced an incentive to increase his club's membership, provide its amenities to all interested alumni and increase the scholarship funds of other clubs. For each non-resident alumnus who joins the DCCNYC, they will donate $50 to the scholarship fund of the new member's "home" Dartmouth club. Truly a win-win proposition for the DCCNYC and all other clubs! Al Cook '62 of the Dartmouth Club of the Rocky Mountains has been a non-resident member for many years and highly recommends the DCCNYC both as a place to stay and to hold meetings when in New York. The cost of a non-resident DCCNYC membership is $193.23 each quarter, plus a one-time entrance fee of $252.22. Recent graduates (within the last eight years) pay less. We are looking for news about programs and activities of your club that would be of interest to other clubs. Please send your information to me.
