OK, first things first. Congratulations to Carrie Heinonen, Karin Markey Jonas, Katy Jozus Mooney and the entire reunion committee for putting on such a great event! I must admit, I'm still reeling at the thought of 473 strollers assembled in Leverone for the '91, '92, '93 luncheon.
Many thanks to Robin Bryson Reynolds and Donna Soave for spearheading the class fundraising effort, which resulted in $165,000 for the Alumni Fund. Here are a few stats for you to chew on: 687 people attended our reunion; that includes 530 adults—331 of whom were class members—157 kids and at least four dogs. During the three official days of reunion we collectively consumed 150 chicken sandwiches, 172 juice boxes (primarily by riders of aforementioned strollers) and one case of Red Bull (primarily by Leigh Zarelli).
Did you know: During reunion Chris Ingersoll pread the cremated ashes of his dearly departed canine companion on campus? Amy and Rich Winter are considering trading in their recently purchased convertible for an RV with a rear bumper designed to fend off gas station islands? By his own admission, Brett Haber is not a sports fan? Congratulations to Brett and Jennifer, who are expecting their first child this fall. In the wee hours of the final night of reunion, Doris Lee beseeched me to "talk her up" in the column as a soon-to-besingle woman? I thought better of it though. Rochester residents Lance and Kathy D'Amico are expecting their second child? Tent entertainment provider Pat Burtis is a professional folk singer? He calls SF home these days and has steady gigs in the Bay Area, Seattle and Boston. Keep up with Pat at www.patburtis.com
I was particularly impressed by the number of seemingly responsible parents that we have in our class. Most who were nursing made the responsible decision to opt for babysitters for the Saturday evening festivities.
I was also quite impressed by the distances some traveled to get to Hanover. Pam and Jamal Richard made it in from Melbourne, Australia, with their son, Zachary, who is growing so quickly that he is sure to have a future as an Aussie Rules footballer. Hugo Delgado made the trip to the northern hemisphere from Sao Paolo. I was most envious of our classmates who are fulltime Upper Valley residents, such as Hal Bourne, who is educating young hearts and minds at Hanover High School; Kip and Judy Parish Oberting (congratulations on the recent birth of their first child, Silas); and Sophie Griswold, who is prepping for med school.
Thanks very much for a job well done to all of our class officers during the past five years, and especially to Kara Williams, who kept us all informed through this column. That's all for this installment.
