Well, call it an encore, or call it my failed attempt to exit the role of class secretary gracefully in the last issue, but you are stuck with me for one more column. First of all, let me congratulate Munir Haddad on what I heard was a fabulous reunion and on his election as our next class president. I am also delighted to report that Chris Onken will be replacing me as our next class secretary. I know I speak for the entire class when I say we look forward to reading Chris's columns again. He writes: "I'm back! I'm ready to get rolling again, but need some information! Let me know your deal at chrisjenlebanon@hotmail.com."
Secondly, I can safely say that it is good timing that my term as class secretary is expiring because what I have left to report empties my mailbag. Before the reunion I heard from Pam Adelstein, who lives in Massachusetts with husband, Michael Weissmann, and their brand new baby, Eliana Clare. Pam endured three days of labor before giving birth at home to her 7-pound, 9-ounce bundle of joy. Michael is an associate at the Boston law firm of Dana Bingham. Pam is on maternity leave from her jobs as a family physician at a community health center in Worcester and the assistant residency director for the family practice residency at UMass.
Liza Veto got snagged into giving me a quick update on her life when she tried to get an e-mail address from me without giving me any class news. After working in the Center for Disease Control and Preventions emergency operations center this fall during the anthrax incidents, Liza moved from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., this February. She is enjoying D.C. and is posted to the Department of Educations Safe and DrugFree Schools Program as the liaison to the CDC back in Atlanta. She works on a range of school health issues, including violence prevention, emergency preparedness and response, asthma, food safety and whatever else comes up. Liza also reports that Jenny Dahlstein and her husband, Heeten Kalan '92, are about to have a baby (probably before this column is published). Liza saw Jenny in Boston in May, and said Jenny was doing great.
Finally, on behalf of the class, I would like to thank outgoing class president Gregg Serenbetz for his service to the class over the past four years. Gregg has been a continuing support to the class and he deserves a much-needed respite. But don't get too comfortable, Gregg, the class will be tapping you for some new role in another five years.
Well, this time I mean it. This is my last column for a while. I happily turn over the reigns to Chris Onken, who I know will regale us with exciting, humorous, and creative columns. Thanks to everyone who wrote in to me over the past four years. Please continue to send in class news for Chris at chrisjenlebanon@hotmail. com.
