Robert K. Carr '29, President of Oberlin College and former Dartmouth professor, joined us at the Friday luncheon meeting on March 9. He spoke to us informally about some of the trials and tribulations of a college president and related some of his more interesting and enjoyable experiences during the past three years at Oberlin and his long tenure in Hanover. He willingly answered a variety of questions from the thirty members present which added to a very interesting and informative meeting. We are hoping to have more such meetings in the near future with prominent members of the Association commenting on some of the interesting facets of their occupations.

On Sunday, March 25, approximately one thousand local alumni, wives, children, and friends, gathered in the superb auditorium of Byron Junior High School to hear the Dartmouth Glee Club in song. Paul Zeller's Club presented a variety of ballads, folk songs, and college tunes, mixed with the fine singing and excellent humor of the Injunaires. As always, the concert was very enthusiastically received, and, as always, magnificently performed. The fine attendance was a tribute to Chairman Howard J. Markt '52 and his energetic committee of Robert F. Meyerson'58, Walter E. Grevait Jr. '52, Edouard A. Petrequin II '50, George M. Kingsley Jr. '54, and a hard-working committee of wives.

The College gave a dinner at the Union Club on March 22 for the class agents of the 1962 Alumni Fund Campaign. JackDodd '22, head of the Fund this year, and John Masland, Provost of the College, and Cliff Jordan '45, from the College staff, spoke to the group of agents at this "kickoff" meeting. They tried to emphasize that although the percentage of Dartmouth alumni who give to the Fund each year is an outstanding one, it is equally important that their contributions be realistic. A study of figures from comparable institutions has indicated that the average Dartmouth alumnus is giving a token contribution, not a thoughtful one based on what he can really give to Dartmouth College. So, this year, really think before you give; then when you give, think realistically!
