Be it assisting Dartmouth or critiquing certain of its policies, members of the class of i960 are among the most active members of the Colleges alumni.

Our president, Rick Roesch, has recently become chair of the board of overseers of the Hood Museum and the Hopkins Center.

Our immediate past president, Jim Adler, is president of the Dartmouth Club of the Upper Valley, one of the five class members who serve presently as a Dartmouth club president around North America. He also is a member of the board of the Association of Alumni and serves on the Alumni Council.

Barry Mac Lean, the only member of the class to have served as a Dartmouth trustee, has given up that position but remains a member of the board of overseers of the Thayer School.

Jon Cohen recently stepped down as chair of the board of overseers of the Tuck school, but remains on the board. He is also on the board of the Hood Museum and Hopkins Center.

Joe Mandel, a vice president of the Association of Alumni, has been on the joint committee that just finished drafting a new proposal for alumni governance.

Steve Donovan is the Alumni Relations aide who works with the Dartmouth clubs. He was kind enough to send me the list of all 20 class members who serve in some capacity on the clubs.

Besides Jim Adler, Joe Batchelder is president of the southwest Florida club, Bruce Eaken is president of the New York Club, Roger Schulz is president of the Ontario club in Toronto and Roger Stephenson is president of the Sarasota club.

Club vice presidents from the class, according to Donovans list, are or recently have been Tom Andrews, Jim Gallagher, Howard Jelinek, Art LaFrance and the Rev. Ken Taber.

Apologies to any I have inadvertently skipped by reason of any changes in the list. Other class members are active as club treasurers, board members, district enrollment directors and in other offices.

This also is not meant to list all past officeholders, of which there are many. But, for the record, and in chronological order, our class presidents have been Borden Powers, Allen Stowe, Spencer Morgan, Seth Strickland, Gene Kohn, Phil Kron, Marty Lower, Jim Adler and Rick Roesch. May one and all have good health and long life!

It's important to recognize as well that work in areas of class endeavor such as Tony Roisman with the summer enrichment program, Bob Kenerson with our class scholarships, Ken Johansen as head class agent, Dudley Smith with bequests, Roger Hanlon with reunions, Denny Goodman with the class newsletter and Jay Emery as class treasurer.

Sometimes critics provide something of high value. When the College decided to do away with the swim teams, for example, Dick Prior and Bill McClung, former team members, were among those waging a gallant fight to bring about a change of mind. They were admirably persistent and the decision was changed.
