News from campus deals with the Dartmouth men's and women's varsity swimming and diving programs, which were almost eliminated but will be continued through a funding agreement between students, alumni, parents and the Dartmouth administration. The agreement calls for the program to be fully reinstated based on a $2 million fundraising effort. Congrats to the involved alumns!

With sadness, I've another loss to report: Albert Campbell Brunelli of Merrimack, New Hampshire, who died in November. An engineering science major, Al was a software engineer at Cooksone Electronics in Manchester, New Hampshire. Al played rugby and enjoyed biking and hiking. A touching photo essay chronicles his life at www.home.attbi.com/~bostonedu/abrunelli/. Sincerest regrets to the Brunelli family.

On a personal note, I was selected as a Fulbright scholar to study demographics in Berlin. Humbled by the recognition, I believe it will be a great opportunity to pick up new skills and to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors who lived and worked in the Berlin area since the 1500s.

Will keep you posted.
