I like to think of myself as a man who keeps his promises, and so I will do my part here to burnish that reputation. I promised people, and I am going to give them to you right...now!
Jon Kohl spent the last five years working and living in Honduras and Guatemala before moving in to another exotic locale in August-Stevens Point, Wisconsin (I can say things like that, see, because I've actually been there). He moved there because his fiancee, Marisol May-orga, has begun masters work at the University of Wisconsin (the things we do for love). Jon has been working for the RARE Center for Tropical Conservation, an international conservation organization, and also keeps busy writing freelance material specializing in heritage interpretation, ecotourism and other environmental topics. You can catch him at www.jonkohl.com.
Jon recently saw Chris Campbell with his wife and two kids in Chicago. Other people Jon reported on: Jeff Bird, who is getting his master's degree in library science at Maryland and was recently engaged; Dan Petit, a software developer in Tennessee; Chris Arabia, who works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a lawyer; and Jeff Deballi, who is a doctor and lives in North Carolina with his wife and two children.
Mark Carlson and his wife, Emily, were proud to announce the birth of their son, Elijah Parkes, on January 11 in San Francisco. The kid could not wait to greet the world, so he showed up three weeks early—and a half-hour before Caroline Horn's shower for Emily was supposed to begin. Apparently Mark and Emily are giving the kid the Green treatment early, as a slew of classmates have made the trek in to give their pitch to young Elijah. Glenn Hammond made a visit from across town, Mark Moeller observed the first in-hospital visit from the pediatrician and, in addition to Carolines shower, was a "mail-in shower" thrown in Memphis by Melissa Ridgley Biondi. Paul Larson wins the prize, though, as he actually showed up from Toronto to meet young Elijah.
David Miller wrote in with news of his nuptials to Deborah Bernstein 93 in November—a mere 12 years after they met at the'fall 2000 Phi Reds party! It was a Dartmouth bonanza, as you might imagine, with fellow '92s David (Benioff) Friedman, Matt Ahrens, Jeff Gaillard and Andy Han in the grooms party and David Pichler also participating in the ceremony. David works at Siebel Systems in San Mateo, California (with Brett Queener, who is a VP), while Deborah is a senior VP at Pequot Ventures in Menlo Park.
