One of the first members of the class of2017 has arrived! Blanca Vera and James Wheeler sent me a darling picture of their newborn, Andrew James Wheeler, attired in a Dartmouth bib with a school mug nearby. Look for the photo in an upcoming newsletter.
Speaking of the newsletter, our editors have been busy. Karen Rose finished her summer job at Lawyers for Children in N.Y.C., a nonprofit organization that provides law guardians for kids in foster care, and headed back to Ann Arbor for her second year at University of Michigan Law School. Karen added that her sister Jackie spent her summer with the corporation counsel in the N.Y.C. Law Department before returning to Columbia Law for year two. Jo Weingarten left the Manhattan Theatre Club to follow her old boss to a brand new theater company called The Play Group. She works there half days and spends the rest of her time immersed in her writing. Her roommate Alex Reitman is still enjoying her job at MCofA in Westport, Conn. Betsy Lewis writes from central New Jersey that she is starting a Ph.D. program in plant biology at Rutgers University. All three look forward to hearing from you for upcoming newsletters, especially as they start rolling out some new sections!
I need to correct a sensational tidbitAaron Russo is not actually an emu rancher. After a day at the zoo, his roommates let their imagination run wild. Aaron wrote that he actually lives in Oakland, where he is an administrator for an early music ensemble in San Francisco. He is also involved with an inner-city ministry in Oakland. If any alums visit the bay area, he's happy to take you on a tour of the zoo...
Dan Mazzucco has been busy! The pro- lific author just electronically published his first historical monograph on the roots and genealogy of the Fasani family. Not only is he a member of BJ's Wholesale Club, but he just started grad school at the Harvard-MIT division of health sciences and technology, where he is aiming for a Ph.D. in medical engineering and medical physics. He lives down the block from Harvard Law first-year roommates Kevin Walsh, Dave Ware, and Dominic Lanza.
Two more wedding announcements. The first took place Aug. 7 in North Andover, Mass. Kenji Hosokawa wed Lisa O'Brien '97 in front of guests that included YoungBae, Rohit Chandra, Yue-Seng Chiu,Dave Ellingrud, Tami Kim, VikKrishnan, Abiola Lapite, Jun Kyu("Jaysen") Park, Candida Harty, JackPien, Neil Resnick, Nikolay Stoyanov, Kevin Walsh, and Ted You. Ken Yasuhara and Rebecca Haines '97 served as best man and a bridesmaid, respectively, and Dan Jo (formerly Hogins) and Chris Houpt were ushers. Kenji wrote that he and Lisa honey- mooned in Quebec City, where they saw The Blair Witch Project in French. "We entered the cinema with the belief that the movie was recent enough to be subtitled...I became motion sick so quickly that I had my eyes closed for almost the entire movie, while listening to French, of which I did not understand a single word..."
Matt Brennan proposed to Stephanie Little '99 in August. After a carriage ride through the French Quarter of New Orleans, Matt took her to dinner, where he dropped to one knee as dessert arrived, asking Stephanie to marry him. When she said "yes," the waiter uncovered the silver top on her "dessert" plate to reveal a box with the ring.
Congratulations to the happy couples! I've hit my word limit. Until next month...
