It was a great 60th last June! Some 65 to 70 classmates made the scene, along with nearly 50 wives and other family members. Pretty remarkable along with the fact that 50 percent of our class is still above ground as of this writing. The class gift of $313,000 far exceeded the goal, which was set with some trepidation in these times. At the class meeting new officers were elected: Bob Field, president; Forbes Delany, vice president. Harmon and Brooks remain as treasurer and secretary, and Leavitt continues as newsletter editor. New members of the executive committee are Donaldson, Marx, Hall, Young, Randall, Lena. Bob Field, son Peter and wife Ali deserve udos for a well-organized reunion and exceptional food. Wednesdays getaway luncheon at the Bema was memorable as the rains came and added some hilarity to the scene. The one downer to those unfamiliar with the Hanover scene is the parking challenge—it gets worse by the year. Most of the group attended the Monday ceremony marking the improved location of the class WW II gift at the Zahm Courtyard at which Prexy Hall spoke. The evening entertainment by the Upper Valley Glee Club was poignant and nostalgic. Tuesday evenings reception was held at the Whittemore Courtyard (Tuck) followed by dinner at what we knew as Commons. It included entertainment by Fred Haas' Jazz Cats—the dancing was enthusiastic. Wednesdays memorial service in Rollins was particularly moving, as Howie Leavitt summarized the accomplishments of lost classmates. Two classmates who had never been to a 43 reunion (slow learners) seemed especially to enjoy themselves—Stan Skaug and Roy Kirch. George Shimizu brought the largest family contingent with three relatives in tow. Until challenged, I'll claim dormitory bragging rights for South Fayerweather with eight former residents present. Just prior to the reunion I received notes of regret from Scott Mitchell—"still playing tennis and will try for the 70th"—and Paul Randall-a hyperextended right hip while wife Betsy battles with arthritis. Paul is a strong advocate for a 65th! Finally, two recent deaths to report: Roger Taft Gaskill and Richard (Larry) Noble. Our condolences to the families. Stay well!
