In February DAM gave us scribes marching orders for this June issue of the magazine. The idea: an issue devoted to "Dartmouth in Photos" and each of us was asked to submit one an appropriate connection to his class. I hope ours will be unique and of special significance to '43 s. Howie Leavitt went to his archives and sent me a couple of shots of Winter Carnival ice sculptury but the photo that caught my eye and was unique to our class came from Doc Fielding. Those who were on campus during the summer of 1942 should recognize the scene: Jam session in front of Robinson Hall. Besides the two pre-meds, Doc and Bill Wilson, and Dacey Stevens (horn in hand), who can identify other '43s in the picture? Give me your input! The 1943 Aegis contains a similar time frame photo with the comment: "The long summer evenings were not dull for there were jam sessions, band concerts, and blackouts. On the steps of Robinson Hall Doc Fielding held forth, bringing the town's hidden talent to light."

As I write this—early March—the College has stirred up the Boston papers and TV stations with the Trustees' comments on proposed residential and social life changes. The Dartmouth, I thought, put the issue in perspective noting that it had been on the agenda through four prior administrations and President Wright is getting the blame or credit because he pulled the trigger.

A couple of date reminders: June 17, Cape Cod mini-reunion luncheon at Old Sea Pines Inn, Brewster, Route 6A. Info is being sent to most New England '43s but all are welcome. Reservations needed—call me at (508) 385-4888 if you don't receive the mailing but will be in the area and want to attend. The Fall Hanover mini will be October 9-10, the Lehigh game weekend. While I have just acquired one of those "things" and have an e-mail address or web site or whatever you call it, I am not putting it at the bottom of this column because I don't yet know how to send and receive on the darn thing! Be patient, I'm trying to be.

The mail bag is pretty empty at this time of year but a short note from Don Reich notes that he and Connie keep active playing tennis when not traveling. A February Boston Globe article extolling the virtues of Kendal as a retirement site carried a photo of George Graham doing his aerobics as well as his remarks of approval of this Hanover area community. I had a short phone chat with Bob Krumm, who revealed he had recently undergone a successful angioplasty procedure but it did not lower his golf handicap. Bud Miskell, on return from a winter sojourn, reported on a Naples, Ft. Myers, Marco Island Dartmouth Club dinner addressed by Prexy Wright, Class of '43s in attendance included Ben Edmunds, Kent Lane, BobMcQueen, and Bob Ott. Finally, a note from Paul Randall stating that he and Betsy are enjoying condo living but have had their share of winter ills. Stay well!
