Michael Stern '59 and Theresa Ellis '97 are the 2003 recipients of the Tucker Foundations Lester B. Granger '18 Award, recognizing leadership and innovation in public service. Stern is the founder of the Big Wood Foundation, a nonprofit grant program that supports youth education in New York City. Ellis founded Harbinger Partners, which joins for-profit corporations with nonprofits to strengthen their technological capabilities.

Dartmouth trustees have elected CharlesE. Haldeman Jr. '70, president and chief executive officer of Putnam Investments, and Albert G. Mulley Jr. '70, chief of the general medicine division of Massachusetts General Hospital, to join the board as charter trustees this June.

Laura Kennedy '87, administrator of the Cincinnati Country Day Elementary School, was recently presented the No Child Left BehindBlue Ribbon Schools Award for academic excellence by U.S. Congressman Rob Portman '78.

Eric Taylor '84, supervising judge of the Los Angeks Superior Courthouse in Torrance, California, is the new president of the board of the California Judges Association.

Heather Myers '87, who previously led business development efforts for Universal Studios, has been appointed senior vice president of strategic planning and business development for Scholastic Corp., the global children's publishing and media company.

Marshall Billingslea '93 has been named assistant secretary general for defense investment, the senior American position, at NATO in Brussels. Most recently he was acting assistant secretary of defense for special operations at the Pentagon and was a principal civilian advisor to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
