Michael Masin s extraordinary business career has come full circle. After graduating from UCLA School of Law Mike helped launch the Washington office of O'Melveny & Myers in the mid-1970s, became co-head of the firm's international practice in 1989 and head of the New York office in 1991.

Here's where it gets even more interesting. Mike was a board member of GTE, an O'Melveny client, and, in 1993, he joined the telecom firm as a senior executive. When GTE and Bell Atlantic Corp. merged in 2000 Mike became president of the new Verizon. Mike was also a board member of Citigroup Inc., and in October 2002, as regulatory agencies were looking at Citigroup research practices, the bank asked Mike to move from the board to vice chairman and COO, responsible for, among other things, the bank's new business practices committee. At the time he was also vice chairman and president of Verizon.

Now Mike has rejoined his old law firm, O'Melveny & Myers, as a senior partner in the New York office. He continues to serve on many boards, including those of Carnegie Hall and the Weill Cornell Medical College.

You may have artwork from classmate Dick Sheaff in your house, your office, even your wallet. You see, Dick has been designing stamps for the U.S.Postal Service for 20 years. Among his 2004 creations are a Navajo rug as part of an American Indian art series, an Athens summer Olympics commemorative stamp and one on country music legend Roy Acuff. Dick, wife Peggy Reiley and son Dana live in Scottsdale, where Peggy is a SVP at Scottsdale Healthcare.

Ken and Caroline Taylor have made a gift of $1 million to Carolines alma mater, Austin College in Sherman, Texas, to support a variety of scholarship initiatives. Carolina currently serves on the Austin board of trustees. Ken recently sold the family-owned Taylor Packing Co. in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, but remains active in that community as a board member of the Guthrie Health Care System and chairman of the Peoples State Bank of Wyalusing.

John Gantz, chief research officer at International Data Corp., was interviewed in a recent issue of Investor's Business Daily. John looked back over the past 40 years of technology development, starting with the debut of the IBM System/360, and discussed the move toward handheld devices and more standardization. "The next big thing," John says, "is a combination of mobility and pervasiveness." Call your broker.
