My inbox has been full of news this past month. I cannot thank these correspondents enough. I hope more of you will follow their example. It is always fun to read about a diverse group of classmates.

Congratulations to Bill Daniel and Elissa Von-Heill Hylton for another excellent year as our cohead agents. Thanks to their leadership and many-classmates' generosity, we broke many records. I was surprised, however, that fewer than 50 percent of our class donated. Having been a class agent and alumni councilor, I know that every gift counts, whether it is $25 or much more. As a point of reference, when we were students, Dartmouth ranked second only to Williams in terms of annual fund participation with 60 percent of alumni contributing. It would be terrific if we could boost our support.

David Wright wrote with news of himself and

two other '78s. "I've now passed my one-year anniversary at Egenera Inc. (purveyors of excellent blade servers). I was glad to get this job, because I'd been unemployed for several months, following the demise of my previous employer, Fabric Networks. I found, by the way, that being unemployed doesn't necessarily mean you have more free time. With what free time I do have, I'm trying to get in some golf, and taking kung fu a couple of times per week. When I first arrived at Egenera, I was pleased to be once again working with Paul Heising; however, he has since moved on to what we hope will be the greener pastures of EMC. Paul has taken up competing in triathlons and can often be found bicycling around the area as part of his training regimen.

"I can also report that Francine Foss has left her job at Tufts-New England Medical Center, where she was director of lymphoma [treatment], and has taken a new job (which she reports enjoying greatly) as director of hematologic malignancies at the Yale Cancer Center (and a tenured professor, too!). She's sold her house in Wellesley and will be moving down to New Haven in August. Visitors welcomed."

A reading of Robert Fieldsteel's new play, Smart, at the LARK Play Development Center in New York City was the occasion for a mid-June get-together of several '78 classmates, including Mary Lou Teel, Marty Altemus, Steve Strauss, Rose Gasner and Hugh Dyar. They were joined by the playwright, his father Bob Fieldsteel '43 and Jean Passanante '75.After the reading the '78s moved on to a local restaurant to talk about Hanover and Robs play. The reading was part of the LARK's annual Playwrights' Week highlighting new plays of significance.

Finally, Vanderbilt University Law School has named Todd Morton, to head its admissions program. He was previously director of admissions at Harvard Law School, 2000-2005 and associate director of admissions 1989-2000. Prior to his tenure at Harvard, Todd was director of recruitment and admissions services at New York University School of Law. He began his career as assistant director of admissions at Dartmouth.

That's all until 2006! Please write.
