As our class slowly ages, we find more than just our families growing. The lists of accomplishments and the lengths of our resumes are expanding to prodigious levels, as evidenced by the nonstop announcements about classmates in industry and private service.

We have many doctors and lawyers among our group receiving recognition, and it is always fun to report on their activities. From personal contact I know we also have some educators in the class, notably Curt Nichols and Rick Willetts. These people are rarely recognized in news clippings like those I receive from corporate PR releases, so I ask the teachers among you to come forward with your own news. This invitation is also extended to everyone who may not have public relations people pushing their stories.

Some of the good news we have received is that neurologist Bruce Sigsbee has joined the Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine. Bruce is returning home to live closer to daughters in Rockport and Bangor after private practice in Massachusetts. His medical specialties and participation in numerous neurological associations have taken him to Washington to lobby on behalf of patients and their diseases. He presents his case there "to make sure Medicare and Medicaid patients have access to care. If we did not have a presence there, certain treatments and medications—particularly for M.S. and longterm neurological disease—would probably not be covered." Besides working in his areas of specialty he will continue to engage in research, especially for stroke treatments.

Among the attorneys, Osborne Mills Jr. has been recognized by Inside Business for his legal efforts as a partner at Cleveland-based Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP. After Dartmouth and three years in the Marines, Osborne received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He has spent his career focusing on commercial and real estate law, and taught a course in modern real estate transactions at Case for six years. He is the father of five daughters, the youngest bom last July. When time allows he enjoys canoeing on the Cuyahoga or Grand Rivers.

Another attorney receiving notice is William F. Martin Jr., who has been named a Class III director for Kansas City-based SCS Transportation Inc. He retired in 2002 from the SCS parent company, Yellow Roadway Corp., after 25 years, most recently as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

I have received books by class authors Bryan O'Connor and John Tallmadge, the former writing Hunting and Gathering on the Information Savanna, a very interesting collaboration on human search Johns book The Cincinnati Arch, as yet unread by me. A future issue of the newsletter will contain a report on both these works and updated biographical information on the authors.

We continue to seek news from all of youthrough Green Cards, e-mails, phone calls— whatever method you choose. So contact our newsletter editor or me, and continue to check the class Web site, as new things are happening there. As mentioned in the last column, your freshman trip experiences will contribute to an article about that revered tradition, so add your comments.
