"I'm still living in Philly, finishing up my GI fellowship, but I'll finally be get- ting out of the cold and moving to San Fran this summer," writes John Sun. "Yumee Shim '93 and I had our first son, Ethan, on February 22,2004; we haven't slept well since then. I keep in touch with Joo Choi, who is living in Manhattan, and kicking butt at JP Morgan Chase. I hope to hear from other '91s in the Bay Area when I get out there."
Congratulations to Peter Jurgeleit and Carolyn Morehouse (Vanderbilt '96), who were wed on October 9,2004, in Saratoga Springs, New York. Peter and Carolyn are graduates of Indiana University School of Law and live in Chicago.
"I am coming to the end of my medical training and am finally ready to begin my career," writes Kyle Flik. 'After Dartmouth I played hockey in Europe, worked in banking in N.Y.C., taught and coached high school, then decided to go to medical school. I met my wife, Anna Grattan (Middlebury '93), at UVM med school, completed orthopedic residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and am currently completing a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Rush in Chicago. This summer I am moving to Albany, New York, where I will join a group to practice orthopedic sports medicine. My wife is pregnant with our third—so far girls, Katarina and Anika."
"Now 10 years into the journey, I am becoming a working opera singer," reports Andrew Ransom. "I'm currently engaged as the tenor with the San Diego Opera education and outreach division. We tour the San Diego area performing operas for children. This year we're doing Mozart's Magic Flute and Rossini's Cinderella in the school productions and other programs of mixed repertoire. I will be singing a small role on the main stage in San Diego Opera's production of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra. I call Stillwater, Oklahoma, home, and when I'm not on the road singing, I'm there with my wonderful wife, Trish, my 4-year- old son, Will, and my 3-year-old daughter, Jenna. I've had several opportunities to connect with Mitch Epner in New York, where he, his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Madison, enjoy Manhattan life. I was thrilled to learn that my prediction that Manish Kejriwal's face would end up in dots (i.e., in the WSJ) came true; he was featured in the AsianWall Street Journal on October 14,2004."
Todd Young checks in from...Vancouver? "By now you are probably saying to yourself, 'Vancouver. ..TY...Vancouver...TY,' and trying to figure out if I am somehow connected to Vancouver. I am happy to tell you, yes. I moved out to the magical Northwest, finally escaping N.Y.C. British Columbia is gorgeous, the people are great and the beer is tasty—I feel pretty lucky to be here. After getting my M.D. in New York, I did equity research in medical devices for a few years and moved to Vancouver to be VP of investor relations at Angiotech Pharmaceuticals. I got hitched in October in Washington, D.C., to a wonderful woman, Catherine Nelson (Duke '95). She is finishing a research fellowship in pediatrics from Johns Hopkins while living here. I met Catherine through Rob Ryan '92, who convinced me to attend a party with him after about 72 holes of Golden Tee. The wedding was a great reunion—Chris Downie was one of my best men. Also in attendance were Bill Vrattos, Pat Crocker, John Pepper, Jeff and Anne Blackburn, Vicky Sadock, Steve Hafner, Tom Ryan and Heather Lane."
