Reminder: Golf in Hanover on the weekend of July 16-17. Let any of us on the executive committee know if you'd like to join us! E-mail time: A most interesting note from Peter Dunn—within a month he became both a new father and grandfather. In January his son, Nathan, had a son, Wyatt J, and in February Peter and wife Lynne had a daughter, Danielle Mara Quinlan Dunn. So Wyatt's aunt is younger than he is. Peter also noted that there maybe some kind of class record of having children born 32 years apart. He closed his note with a comment: "Looks like I am in for an exciting middle age." Amen, brother. Peter Werner wrote he's been busy, noting three shows coming this spring/summer: a Lifetime movie with Mercedes Ruehl and Jane Krokowski (it didn't have a name when he wrote); a CBS movie called Vinegar Hill with Mary-Louise Parker, Tom Skerritt and Betty Buckley; and an episode ofMedium called Lucky, with Patricia Arquette. Gordie Rule was honored by his home- town of Chandler, Arizona, with an induction into that town's Sports Hall of Fame. 'A hardhitting defensive back considered the best allaround athlete in Chandler history." Recall that Gordie played a little football at Dartmouth too, and spent two years with the Packers.
Richard Parker has been getting considerable notice as the author of a new "exemplary intellectual biography": John Kenneth Galhraith,His Life, His Politics, His Economics. Richard teaches economics, politics and press policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. After Dartmouth he attended Oxford University. The book publicity proudly notes a career that includes serving as cofounder, editor and publisher of Mother Jones, articles in many national newspapers and several previous books. In the 1980s he ran a political consulting and fundraising company with clients who included Senators Kennedy, Cranston, McGovern and Glenn, and many from the House of Representatives. He has done work for nonprofits such as Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, the ACLU and others. More recently he served as a consultant to Senators Kennedy and Moynihan on the economic transformation of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. An e-mail from an '06 about an upcoming conference in Frankfurt, Germany, on microfinance shared news that our very own classmate and trustee Mike Chu would be a panelist. Be sure to stop in if you're in the Frankfurt area! And in the regular mail: I received a complimentary copy of a new book by Steve Jenkins, How Science Works. Steve teaches biology at the University of Reno in Nevada. Sadder news just in: Guy Mhone died in South Africa recently Watch for an obituary in a future magazine. But as always, any type of news always welcome.
