EIGHT IS ENOUGH

With the recent demotion of Pluto to dwarf planet status, we turned for enlightenment to Greg Tufaro '97, resident astrologer for HGTV's new show What's Your Sign? Design.

How does this change impact Scorpios, whose house is ruled by Pluto?

"It's all over for Scorpios...this is the beginning of the end. All kidding aside, astrologically speaking, nothing should change. Astrology is based on casting the patterns of objects' revolutions around the sun and the synchronous effect of events on Earth and in our lives due to those objects. Because an object's classification changes, shouldn't mean anything to its affect. What's really interesting is that of all planets for this to happen to, it happens to Pluto, which is said to govern personal transformations, such as deaths and rebirths. Apparently, even Pluto wasn't beyond this."

For your show, do you now have to incorporate a new decorating strategy for Scorpios?

"The truth is, Scorpios are the hardest sign to nail down when it comes to anything. They know how they feel about things innately, and nobody is going to convince them otherwise. Nine times out of 10 with a Scorpio, just saying, 'You like red walls,' was the kiss of death for me because they'd let us know otherwise with the daggers shooting from their eyes."

The official charter establishing Dartmouth was signed on December 13, 1769, making the College a Sagittarius. What are some Sagittarian traits that Dartmouth exhibits?

"Dartmouth is typical Sagittariusprone to being the life of the party and doing things in abundance, social inebriation included. Also, Sagittarius is the sign of the independent traveleras so many of us found during our four years with the D-Plan and off campus on an FSP."
