The mailbag was very light this time around, but a last-minute, e-mail appeal brought in news from Chuck Bralver. Chuck reported that Ed Muller has been appointed chairman and chief executive officer of Mirant Corp., an energy company headquartered in Atlanta that produces and sells electricity in North America, the Caribbean and the Philippines. Ed earned a law degree from Yale after Dartmouth and was previously president and chief executive officer of Edison Mission Energy.
Frank Doorley also wrote about a new career move. Frank and his wife, Marian Meijer Doorley '77, have moved from the Chicago area to California, the land of unreal estate. Frank has joined Apple, where his challenge is to bring a level of standardization to interactions between Apple and its worldwide external business partners, such as OEMs, distributors and logistics companies. Frank described Apple as an exciting company with a huge coolness factor. His kids love getting the latest gadgets such as the iPod Nano. The kids he referred to are his and Marian's daughter Kate, a senior at Middlebury, and son Liam, who attends the University of Kentucky. Frank and Marian are busy tracking down and reconnecting with old Dartmouth friends in the Los Gatos area.
