Hello '05s! I hope this finds you all well and enjoying2006—hard to believe it's been almost a year since we graduated, no? I'm sure you've all been keeping busy—so let me know what you're up to! I also want to continue suggesting that you check out the '05 Web site, updated regularly by C. Morgan Brown—it includes an easy way to pay your dues, information on your fellow classmates and even the new '05 "bookclub" listings.
Congratulations are certainly in order for Brandi Tambasco, who wrote to say that she was married to Michael D. Tambasco, a chemistry graduate student at Dartmouth in August. She's currently living in Hanover, working at the Hood Museum as the registrars assistant.
Haley R. Peckett wanted to let everyone know, "I got a new job in Tampa, Florida, working as an urban planner at Englehart, Hammer and Associates." She started in January—congratulations and good luck, Haley!
Michael Lauria is certainly keeping busy, "I'm currently attending the U.S. Air Force Pararescue School. It's a military special forces school that teaches us how to rescue and provide emergency medical treatment necessary to stabilize and evacuate downed and injured pilots from austere and 'non-permissive' environments around the world. Soon I hope to head out there and start saving people." You're an inspiration, Michael!
In other areas of the world, Isaac Kardon, Dan Correa and Neel Shah are "traveling and trading livestock in India and Thailand for two months this winter," according to Isaac. They returned in January to found a boutique outsourcing\inlaying firm.
In New York Katie Van Syckle has been working in the design department of OMagazine, as the assistant to the design director. "It is a wonderful first job, I really like my co-workers, the office is very laid back and I have actually laid out Dr. Phil's page in the magazine, which is pretty- cool." Katies planning to apply to journalism school in the coming years, hoping to become a writer or work in the editorial field. Clint Hendler is following a similar path—having just applied to journalism school, he accepted a job at the JimLehrer News hour in January. His job has relocated him to Washington, D.C. Congratulations to you both!
Yet another '05 involved in journalism, Kedar Deshpande, who returns soon from his Fullbright studies in India, recently published a book review in Asia Times. You can check it out at www. atimes.com/atimes/south_asia/glo3dfoi.html. Good work, Kedar!
I recently saw Mary Bell at a Nutcracker performance in San Francisco. Mary is living with her boyfriend Misha Akulov, in Oakland, California, and is studying for her M.F.A. in dance at Mills College.
I also, unfortunately, have some sad news to bring. As I'm sure many of you are aware, a fellow classmate Jordan Feltus passed away in December. His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jordan's memory to Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation, 3200 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1601 South Tower, Los Angeles, CA 90010; Great Kills Moravian Church, 74 Hillside Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10308; or University Hospice, Staten Island University Hospital, 256 Mason Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305-9990. He will be missed.
Take care of yourselves and each other until next time. And please let me know how you are and what you are up to; I love hearing from you!
