Warren Daniel has proven to be an active class vice president who sometimes takes life and limb in hand to drive from Boston to Hanover in the dead of winter to attend the kitchen cabinet meetings at the Norwich Inn (first Tuesday at noon). He reports that in the absence of a ski mini-reunion this year, the local faithful still got together for dinner at Dowds Inn in Lyme at the end of January. One matter at hand for the class is the planning process for our 60th reunion June 9-11,2008. At the time of this writing advance contact was being made with the reunion bureaucracy to begin working on the details.
Newsletter Editor Dick Dahl lives in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, and, with Dot, never misses a Dartmouth-Princeton sports event. Leading practically the whole game, it looked like the Green were going to break the jinx that had shut the basketball team out there for 18 games but the Tigers pulled it out in the last few minutes. We hope that better days are coming for our teams, especially as Dartmouth supplied half of the Ivy League participants in the recent Olympic Games.
One of the big events in Hanover this winter was the special meeting of the alumni association to vote on revising the manner of voting and the plurality necessary to revise the constitution of that body. Fortunately, all alumni will now be able to cast a vote rather than the "only those present" rules that have been in effect. Unfortunately, no debate was permitted at the meeting, which was held concurrent with the club officers and sub-groups (black, Latino, gay and lesbian, etc.) meeting. The majority vote to change the constitution has been lowered from three-quarters to two-thirds, which was the main point of contention. The goal of the revision group is to merge the alumni association and the Alumni Council, which some feel does not always reflect the will of the majority of alumni. They cite the three most recent Alumni Council trustee candidates who have lost to outside "write-in" candidates. Keep your eye on this issue. It's vital to the future of alumni influence in the colleges decision-making-
