Hail fellow '72s well met! As this reaches you I can only hope winter has released its icy grip on the northern climes, and that all among you are well. This being written on Februarys last day, I am fighting a strong urge to hop a plane for anywhere WARM!
Looking toward a more temperate time, it is by no means too early to put a set of very, very important dates on our calendars, gentlemen: June 11-14,2007, our 35th reunion! After considerable deliberation, consultation among your executive committee and communication with other classes that've ventured outside the normal calendar, we've decided to stay with the Monday through Thursday dates assigned by the College. This affords a wonderful opportunity for those who can arrive early to perhaps attend Commencement. I have the good fortune of being here every year, and it is no less moving an experience today than it was in 1972! Shel Prentice is working on a block of rooms at the Woodstock Inn for early arrivals. If you think you might like to extend your visit, please contact our estimable president Jon Einsidler (jeinsidler@gscorp.com). Because it involves Commencement weekend, we need to have the reservations set very, very soon.
Reunion-related: John DeRegt has volunteered to chair the reunion. Ideas for activities, offers of help and encouragement, and other gestures of good will should be sent to him (jderegt@spencerstuart.com), president Jon or any of the executive committee. We want this to be a great time for all, and more heavily attended than any 35th in Dartmouth's history! Fun to be had! Memories to be made! Old friendships rekindled and new ones forged! We can do it if you'll join us!
A wonderful mini-reunion opportunity in the nearer future lies with a repeat gathering this summer at the Minary Center on Squam Lake (On Golden Pond, movie buffs) July 28-30. Those in attendance last summer have given glowing reviews of the experience. Just ask Sandra and Marty Cain, Tricia and Peter Heed, Patricia and Richard Spaziano, John Rockwell, John Burke, Lynn and Marc Josephson, Bill Pollock, Barb and Shel Prentice, Gail and Dan Hergott, Greg Yadley, and Constance and David Hetzel. New Hampshire in July is a pretty special place. If you'd like more info or to attend, contact Shel!
Briefly moving to financial news, just a friendly reminder (plea?) to please pay your class dues. Chip Carstensen reports our treasury, although on the positive side of the ledger, needs refilling after our contribution to the worthy cause spearheaded by Bev Love in support of Katrina victims. I expect my fellow scribe John Rockwell will have more on that incredible effort in an upcoming newsletter.
So that's it for now from the Hanover Plain. Please start planning to attend our 35th, and take a few minutes to let me or John R. know what and how you and your families are doing!
Be well, be warm, be green!
Your faithful scribe.
