On hand for the Jan. 12 class meeting in New York were chairman Russ Brace, Bob Dumont, Jim Flynn, Leo McKenna, Wally Pugh, Tom Rosenwald, George Yeager, Steve Brand, Booge Irwin, Doug Keare, Dick Rosen, Bud Schattman, and myself. Jim Flynn declared the class in the black and gave details on the fall class dues collection. Len Clark is Tommy Rosenwald's successor heading up the class alumni fund drive now getting underway. Bob Dumont discussed the possibility of a class get-together in New Haven before the Yale game. It will probably be in a predesignated location in the parking lot; everyone will be encouraged to purchase general admission tickets for that game. I made up a new list of "wanted '565," 66 men from whom Will and I have heard nothing recently. (23 of these are hold-overs from last year's 101 "wanted men," whom we had not mentioned since '59.) The list will be distributed shortly. Doug Keare reported favorably on the results of his efforts to raise enough money for Ahmed Osman's college expenses this his first year, and Doug looks forward to similar response next fall to assure Ahmed's future at Dartmouth. We discussed ways for our class to participate in (1) selecting students for the program (contact Mott Hupfel), (2) arranging vacations (contact Doug Keare), and (3) lining up summer jobs (contact George Yeager). Doug was formally appointed to the class executive committee. Russ Brace has mailed copies of a class directory to the entire class and plans to mail address corrections each fall. The next class meeting will be in Hanover on one of the home football weekends. After the meeting a good group gathered at George and Barbara Yeager's for lunch and refreshment.

Andy Thorns and Carole Ann Brozey have announced their engagement. Carole is from Caldwell, N.J., and graduated from Bucknell; she is a secretary for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. in Newark, where Andy is working. In addition to work and plans for marriage, both are studying; Carole is attending the Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and Andy is studying at Seton Hall Law School.

Burt and Dorothy Kellogg and their two children, Cathy 6 and Patty 4, are living in Westfield, N.J. Burt has just been made director of life publications, a position with Alfred M. Best, N.Y., insurance publications. Hugh and Joan Manchester live in Youngstown, Ohio, where Hugh is with a construction firm. Hugh and Joan made the trip to Hanover last fall for our annual '56 rainy football weekend! Wally Pugh, who did some scouting for this month's class column, is taking a special assignment in Syracuse for Price Waterhouse & Co. Wally and Sybil (third wedding anniversary March 5) will be living at 155 Ballantyne Road, Apt. 105, in Syracuse for about a year. Also in Syracuse, Bob Becker, who became acting county planning commissioner with the passing of a county charter a year ago, has now been given the position on a permanent basis. Bob has been on the county regional planning board and in the city planning department; he did graduate work in this field and worked for the New York Port Authority. Bob and Ruth and their two children, Cynthia and Suzanne, are living in Onondaga.

Bill Sherman has been promoted to assistant vice president of the City National Bank and Trust Co. in Kansas City, where he has been since 1958. Among other things Bill looks after lowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming for the Bank. He and Joan and their two children live in Prairie Village, Kan. DaveDuane recently received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in geology and is with Socony Mobil of Wichita as an exploratory geologist. Dave and Nancy have a daughter, Betsy, and live in Wichita. I "ran into" Tiny Strong on the Suicide Six ski slope over the Feb. 22 weekend. Jon has been made an associate with Peabody, Koufman & Brewer, the Boston law firm of our governor. Ray Harrison was ordained a deacon of the Episcopal Church in Missoula, Mont., last December. Ray received his degree from McCormick Seminary in 1960 and before that worked in a mission in Alaska. Ray and Margaret have one child. When in New York in January, I attended a service at the Church of the Good Neighbor in East Harlem conducted by Lon Dring. In addition to his church responsibilities, Lon was one of two principal speakers at Lafayette College during a five-day religious program held there a few months ago, and he is active in various programs aimed at the improvement of life for people in New York.

Howie and Helen Sandler have moved to Warminster, Pa. Howie is with Ametek, Inc. in Sellersville, Pa. Bernt Stigum has started as assistant professor of economics at Cornell. Gene and Betsy White have arrived in Peshawar, West Pakistan, on a Peace Corps assignment. Gene is serving as municipal engineer for the city of Peshawar and Betsy as the city's social welfare officer. In 1961 Gene and Betsy drove from Europe through the Middle East to Egypt, took a steamer up the Nile to Lake Victoria, and also climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya. Pres Pumphrey has taken a position with William S. Morris & Co., municipal bond dealers in New York City. Walker Peterson is studying law at U.C.L.A.

Rick Worrell has been practicing law in Providence, R.I., specializing in taxation and studying taxation at Boston University graduate school. Rick sailed in the Newport-Bermuda race last sunnier and then served as campaign manager for the R.I. Republican candidate for Congress. Rick made the news in January taking a position on a local race track issue. Joe Gonnella is serving in the Army Medical Corps as a doctor at Fort Dix. Joe was commanding officer of a medical detachment in Korea for a little over a year. Cleto DiGiovanni interned in Denver and now holds a position in the Navy's Air Development Center in Johnsville, Pa. I expect Steve Chontos has had a good season in the ski equipment business at the Sno Shoppe in West Dover, Vt.

Ahmed Siddik Osman, an unclassifiedstudent from the Sudan and an adopted'56, has apparently adjusted to the rigorsof New Hampshire's long winter.
