Our Seattle mini-reunion in June was a huge success and great fun for the 50- plus who were there. Hosting the group was Bob Helsell, Bob Cline, Bob King and Tim Rich. Those participating included Bart Bartholomew, Stew Economou, Charlie Eytel, Jay Herpel, Dick Hoehn, Tom Magill, Ross Farrar, Kurt Wehbring and many others. You wish you had been there!
If you missed the fun, there is still time to sign up fora pleasant, relaxing, long weekend, our fall mini-reunion in Hanover, Friday, October 6, through Sunday, October 8. Dress is casual, everyone is friendly and the beautiful New England fall colors are at their peak. Golfers can arrive one day early and play Baker Hill on Thursday, October 5, and all are invited to cocktails and the "golfers' dinner" that evening. Fridays coaches panel, Saturday's Yale game, our class dinners and our class meeting with current undergraduates are highlights but there is also optional free time for personal pursuits such as antiquing, shopping and gallery hopping.
Usually 50 to 100 of us are there, many flying in from other parts of the country and connecting this weekend to a visit with children, grandchildren or friends in New England. You can sign on bye-mailing Donna and John Ferries at djferries@earthlink.net or calling them at (203) 762-0795.
Another great mini-reunion for your calendar is scheduled in Colorado Springs next June 10 to 15. Our headquarters is Garden of the Gods private club, where Linda and Tom Aley are members, and there are spectacular views, a beautiful pool, a great golf course and wonderful food. Everyone has a choice of activities every day including rafting, horseback riding, golf, tennis, western shopping, touring the Air Force Academy, maybe visiting NORAD headquarters and more.
We shall have rooms in a selection of motels and at the club with prices from $80 to $200 per night. While details will come later, now is the time to put this trip on your calendar so you can be one of the group. More information is available from Linda or Tom Aley at gthomasaley@yahoo. com or (941) 964-0293. Colorado Springs was chosen to make participation especially easy for classmates living between the Mississippi and the Pacific.
In case you do not know, our class is engaged in special activities with the class of 2009, the students who will graduate the day we have our 50 th reunion. Bill Boyle and Bob Johnson are leading the series of joint activities along with their wives, Susan and Arlene. Barry Smith with Ruth Reeve, Deb and Mike Nolan, Janice and Chris Cundey, the Jim Woosters and Doug Wises also pitch in.These '59s were present during matriculation exercises, shook hands with every 2009, presented each with a special lapel pin, served refreshments and talked about success at Dartmouth. Later in the year small group meetings were held in dorms, the DOC House and at the Hanover Inn. A special presentation was sponsored for '09s and their parents during First Year Family Weekend.
