As I write this, preliminary results of this years Dartmouth College Fund are coming in. Under the fantastic leadership of Bruce Miller, participation chair, and Tom Ludlow, head agent, our giving participation rate exceeded 60 percent and broke three records: best '74 non-re- union year (50 percent participation); best '74 year ever, including reunions (54 percent); and the Dartmouth all-time, 32-year-out record (57 percent). What a wonderful display of class spirit and support for the College!

Dartmouth will name one of the new residence halls in the McLaughlin Residential Cluster in honor of the Thomas family. Jack Thomas and his wife, Debbie, are longtime supporters of the College. The honor recognizes their dedication and generosity to Dartmouth. In 1996 they endowed a fellowship to support faculty salaries and to provide research stipends. Jack served as co-chair of the '74 giving committee for our 25 th and 30th reunion years and is a past president of the Dartmouth Club of St. Louis.
