The Alumni Fund campaign is over and gone and the record as a whole has been good. For several reasons the individual record of the Class of 1933 has not compared with that of former years. We must take it as an incentive to do better in next year's drive.

As a result of the war, it will be necessary to cut down on the length of these notes. Don't be surprised, therefore, if your column tends to become more factual and less imaginary.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman B. Goodstein have announced the engagement of their daughter, Alice, to Chet Thomson.

John Donovan has been named acting principal of the Newburyport High School. He teaches (this will interest the former denizens of Smith Hall) commercial law, economics, and algebra.

Capt. and Mrs. William S. Popham of Washington have announced the engagement of their daughter, Louisa, to BillRaoul who is now a Lieutenant on the staff of the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Okla.

Byron McCoy has been named a director of the Buffalo Junior Chamber of Commerce. He has been active in the fields of Health, City Planning and Public Speaking since his affiliation with this organization in 1937, according to the Buffalo LawJournal.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Goodwin of Pittsfield, Mass. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Barbara, to Merrill Worthen. Our information is that Mr. Worthen is now stationed at the First Corps Area Headquarters in Boston. His capacity is not known.

From John A. Davidson, M.D.: "Start my internship on July 1 at Worcester, Mass. City Hospital. I am now a Lieut, (j.g.) in the USNR and expect to go on active duty after I finish interning."

A. B. White sends on the following information concerning Lup White, his son: "He enlisted January 5th in the Navy and on June Ist received his commission as Ensign. He is stationed at 67 Broad Street, New York. He received a leave of absence from his employers—Socony-Vacuum Oilwhere he has been employed in the Comptroller's Dept. since 1934. At present he is living at Hotel Tudor, 304 E. 42nd St., New York."

John Rockivell is now an Ensign in the USNR and is in the District Legal Office at Great Lakes, 111. He and his wife bought a house in Oak Park about a year ago and he now commutes from there. He gave up his job at Pam, Hurd and Reichmann. John reports that Gus Babson has received his commission as Lieut, j.g. and is stationed at Quonset where he is studying Communications.

Pete Grace is now a Lieut, j.g. He also trained at Quonset and is now stationed at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Va.

Other members of the armed forces are: Pvt. Clarence Tallberg, Recruit Depot, San Diego, Cal Lieuts. (j.g.) DaveFlynn, N.A.S., So. Weymouth, Mass.; JohnFletcher, A.V.S.; Harold Payne, A.V.S., Quonset Point, R. I Capt. Philip A.Marden, USMC.

Margaret Mary Lincoln was born on May 27, 1942 to Peg and Don Lincoln.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Biddle have announced the marriage of their daughter, Margaret, to Bill Quinn. The ceremony took place at Massilon, O. on June 26th. The Quinn beer machine will repose at Brentwood Road, Hills and Dales, Canton—after July 20th—and we don't mean anything personal by that "beer machine" stuff either.
