Gerry and Ginny Sarno have staked their claim to the title "Oldest First Time Grandparents of the Class." The honor is based on the birth of Aedan Anthony Sarno to the former Shannon Connolly and Anthony J. Sarno on July 2,2006. Gerry observes, "We are just a 'little' bit behind most of our classmates, who are fast becoming great-grandparents." Speaking of the Sarnos, I neglected to mention that they (and the Lindenthals) were among those enjoying Jack and Jill Harned's hospitality in October. And finally, be on the first tee of St. Andrews famous golf links at 4:50 p.m. on June 27 if you want to see Gerry tee off. While on golf Bob Funkhouser maybe 80 but his golf shoes don't know it. He shot his age on March 10 in Los Angeles. Wow! The Wellesley (Massachusetts) high school class of 1944 will hold its 63 rd reunion in September.Among those listed on the reunion committee is my (high school) classmate Jim Gregg. Charlie Abbe will have departed Florida around April 22. He will have swapped his golf clubs for fishing gear to be ready for the May 1 season opening at his private island in northern Maine.Years of fly-casting way down east have honed Charlie's Yankee storytelling skills. Ayeeuh. As the deadline for this column nears, Tommy Ruggles and Janot are expecting "around 50" for their April caper in Concord, Massachusetts. During the winter season we enjoyed seeing the Fauvers, Bob Mauks, Mcliwains, Hoods, Harneds, Harrington-Kips, Freys, Sardellas and Joel Leavitt (Gail had another obligation). Joel reports that he is still swinging clubs and a racquet and that during a recent trip to Aspen, Gail easily outdid him on the slopes. Despite having a ski instructor nephew and a granddaughter who instructs blind and physically challenged folks how to ski, Joel is modest about his skiing 'prowess.
