Past president Bud Elliott recently completed the hand off of one of our most successful class projects to the better-heeled '67s. With Don Smith, Joe Smith and others and some class funds, he had started and implemented the Space for Dialogue program at the museum, involving six to eight interns peryear. Visible results were intriguing displays at the museums entrance. It is being expanded to other locations around campus. Bud's interest in the arts is also displayed by his annual pilgrimage to the Berkshires for the Tanglewood Festival. We thank him for his very significant stewardship of the museum project for many years.

Borrowing from Tom Huffman's DMS column, we find that Lou Clarke is leading an active albeit somewhat confined life in Portland, Maine, these days and hasn't set foot on a boat since his 'round-the-world sail. Macular degeneration has taken away his driving privileges but he has family nearby. He is still taking adult education classes.

Jerry Wensinger called recently to report the passing of Peter Batchelder with an ailing heart on May 7. Peter had taught German at Bowdoin, Tufts and Keene State, retiring in 1981 to his home at Alstead, New Hampshire, and gardening par excellence. Their interest in German (Jerry taught it at Wesleyan for years) and travel together on the continent kept them close through the years.

We thank those of you who cast your vote in the alumni trustee election. It is refreshing to see several who had given up on the College regain interest in its governance. Dartmouth is still a unique and rewarding experience and its alumni care for it zealously.

In preparation for the 6oth reunion I will be editing a simple yearbook update of as many class members who choose to respond to the mailing that has invited your participation in that gathering. Rather than just name, rank and serial number, we hope to get a wider range of opinion and reminiscences this time. So even if you can't make the event, please send a few words about yourself. We hope to get it mailed back to you in advance of the reunion itself.
