Unless winter has chosen to linger to make up for its late arrival on campus, it's about time for duckboards and slushy crosswalks in Hanover. Snow no longer crunches underfoot and temperatures above 40 eliminate undergraduate need for more than a T-shirt outdoors. Those were the days, my friends!
Class prexy Warren Daniell urgently requests that as many classmates as possible send a brief message to him wdaniell48@aol.com and Webmaster Pete Foster peterbct@snet.net to aid in communications in preparation for our 60th reunion next year. And while you are in the mood and online, why not send me some news to the address at the end of this column. Rooms will be available at the Hanover Inn and one of the newer dormitories for that gathering.
Finn Siiteri is busy on an autobiography tracing his odyssey from Dartmouth to the University of New Hampshire to Columbia for a Ph.D. in biochemistry to University of Texas Medical School from 1962 to 1973 and University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, where he retired as a professor of obstetrics and gynecology. He taught and wrote extensively about estrogen and androgen effects on pregnancy and prostate among other things. They are living in Ft. Collins, Colorado, at last look.
Jack and Jeanne Bobbin keep me on their Christmas card list, which almost guarantees a mention in these notes (hint, hint). At their home on Queen Anne Lake in Newport News, Virginia, they have mallard ducks that enjoy the winter there, mating, laying their eggs and returning each year to nesting places on the lake. The Bobbitts take care not to disturb them and can enjoy their own natural aviary from their home.
You may not believe this, but we have another alumni trustee election coming up from April 1 through May 15. Be sure to look the candidates over carefully and castyourvote. We still have wide choices as we retained our 1891 constitution in the last election. As I understand it, you may vote for as many or as few as you like. That should make for an interesting contest. Cheers!
