Thanks for all the news that you sent my way! One of the reasons I took this job was to have the opportunity to hear from classmates that have been absent for awhile! So many exciting things are happening in the lives of '77s. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the candidacy of our own Don Wiviott, who is running for Congress in New Mexico. Dan Mahoney hosted a gathering in his home last November for Don, which was attended by Corf Delaney, Ann Duffy, Eric Witte and' Amy Camann Cholnoky. Jose Fernandez also hosted one in New York City. Don is running on a "green" platform you can check out his Web site at www.donfornewmexico.com If you'd like to support Dons campaign, you can do so on his site.
I heard from Karen Keegan, who was on her way back from a family ski trip in Telluride, Colorado. She and her husband, Guy Van Sickle Jr. '76, are considering attending the September 2008 Rassias Greek Island trip and want to know if any other classmates are considering the trip. Karen is the assistant general counsel for natural resources and environment at the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. Her daughter Katie is an 05 and son Guy III will be a freshman at Johns Hopkins this fall.
Michael Mosher is a professor of art at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan. He missed our 30th reunion while on the second of his two 2007 trips to Dakar, Senegal, where his wife, Chrysanthe, joined him and some students for three weeks of lectures and travel. During a fall sabbatical he painted a series called "Visual Engineering: Circuitous Science and Media Imagery," alluding to the Iraq war, glamorous women and electric circuitry schematics, which will be exhibited in the SVSU gallery in November 2008. Now teaching a new course, "Community Mural Painting, History and Technology," he has introduced his students to the pictures of the Dartmouth Orozco murals.
Another absentee from our reunion chimed in from Wayland, Massachusetts. Chris Jenny, who labels himself as one of the "old men" of the Parthenon Group, is a senior partner running a new hedge fund in the Boston office. He claims Parthenon must be one of the "greenest" management consulting firms, with a high percentage of Dartmouth and Tuck grads running the firm. Chris's oldest son Alex '10 is a quarterback for the Big Green. At the UNH-Dartmouth football game this fall Chris caught up with Brian McCloskey, who is head coach for the UNH women's hockey team, currently ranked No. 1 in the country. A second Jenny, son C.J., will be a freshman at Dartmouth this fall.
On a sad note, I must report the passing of Larry Cubas. He collapsed on the court during a basketball game in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He was Ivy League Rookie of the Year and remains among Dartmouth's all-time high scorers. A full obituary will appear in a later issue of the magazine.
