There is a lot of news for a 600-word limit this month! Mary Felley writes, "I've been living in a small town in northeast Pennsylvania for four-plus years, which makes for real culture shock after being in East Asia for 11.1 moved back to the States to be a little closer to family, which has worked out great. I work for Countryside Conservancy, a local land trust, and am enjoying the joys of managing and growing a small organization. Classmates visiting the greater Scranton/Binghamton area are welcome to give me a call to take a hike on some of our protected lands!"
Laura Gasser reports: "I've been here in San Francisco for more than 11 years now. For seven years I have been an attorney with the California Public Utilities Commission, which regulates all privately owned utilities in the state. Marc Katz and I will be celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary this September and have a 3-year-old son, Max.
"As the relatively newly minted mini-reunion chair, I most recently saw classmates at Class Officers Weekend in Hanover in October: H. Morgan, Jock and Allison Bleyler McDonald, Anne Schnader Jones and Christen Fitzpatrick O'Connor. Some great news from Laura Korfmann: In December she and husband Brian welcomed their second daughter, Julie, who joins big sister Amy."
She sees Jennifer (Reaser) Glass and her family (Andrew Glass '88 and two girls) often. They also see Pam (Gordon) Furth and her family at least once a year. Lisa occasionally gets together with Melissa (Duarte) Phillips, since she is another New Englander, in Providence, Rhode Island. Lisa has also connected to a few '87s via Facebook, recently with Gregg Rippey, who is in Colorado, and Marie Trexler, who is in San Francisco. Lisa is hoping to visit Sam Semon and his family in their Alhambra, California, home in June.
Karen (Hill) Hilyard: "We've been in Athens Georgia, for almost three years. I will complete my Ph.D. in journalism and mass communication at the University of Georgia. In August I'll be taking a tenure-track position at the University of Tennessee and moving to Knoxville. My research work is in risk communication, especially surrounding emergencies and disasters, and combines a lot of what I loved during my years at CNN and as a public relations executive.
"My husband, Jeff (Harvard '91), has been an amazing support to me, helping to take care of Vivian (5) and Nathaniel (2). I am looking forward to the relative sanity of no longer being a doctoral student so I can actually spend some quality time with the family.
"After more than a decade in San Francisco Alison Mason is back in N.Y.C. and running deals for UBS. Teresa (Polenz) Delany and her husband, Blake, just added a fourth child, Seth, who was born in late summer; Teresa is still an attorney for Hughes Hubbard and Reed in N.Y.C."
