Many, many thanks go to the prolific and productive '87s who have responded to our request for news. I won't waste words...David Harris writes that he's been general manager of operations and finance for Harvard University transportation services since 1998. In his efforts to "green the crimson" Dave spearheaded Harvard's biodiesel program, converting to the renewable fuel in the university's diesel shuttles and vehicles. With the assistance of Jesse Foote '01 he has worked to reduce greenhouse emissions from equipment on construction sites. He lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts, with wife Terri and son Ryan (6 1/2). Family ties to Dartmouth abound: His wife's grandfather was Alvin "Doggie" Julian, men's basketball coach from 1950 to 1967, and his father-in- law is Don Sheffield '60. The family is back in Hanover for many College events, including basketball, hockey and football. David most recently caught up with Jim Thomas while on a business trip in Chicago.
Despite lots of car sickness among the offspring (could it be the five reported speeding tickets?) "all was right in the world!" Greg and Colleen are both successful doctors/surgeons living in the Orlando, Florida, area.
David Havlick moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in June 2006 with wife Marion and daughter Adele (3) after finishing a doctorate at UNC-Chapel Hill. He started as an assistant professor of geography and environmental studies at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in fall of 2007. Marion, who received a doctorate in philosophy from Duke, is now a professor at. Colorado College. Dave's research and teaching focuses on public land conservation, militarized landscapes and environmental restoration. He hopes he will reach more outside "the academy" as he works with community members on local watershed restoration projects and citizen resistance to military expansion. He gets outside whenever possible, biking, backcountry skiing, hiking, camping or tramping around the neighborhood with his daughter.
Pam Gordon Furth, who lives in Westport, Connecticut, has been in college publishing foryears. She signed her most recent contract in 2005, a mammoth art appreciation textbook for McGraw-Hill. She has been married to David Furth for nearly 20 years and has two children, Josh (14) and Becca (11). Last summer she saw Nancy Lomazzo when they went kayaking in Greenwich, Connecticut. With classmates Lisa Horowitz and Dave Huth she went to Six Flags in New England. Pam also occasionally sees Jill Levy.
Congratulations are in order for Martin Spotti. He gave up the bachelor life on September 3, 2006, when he married Lauren Eber in Rancho Nicasio, California.
