Michael Gazzaniga '61, a professor of psychology and director for the SAGE Center for the Study of Mind at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has earned a Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the American Psychological Association. The former Dartmouth dean of faculty will also present the Gifford Lectures at the University of Edinburgh in 2009.
Harry Zlokower '63, president of the N.Y.C.-based PR firm Zlokower Cos., has been elected treasurer of the New York chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, one of the organization's largest chapters.
Paul Keck Jr. '79, M.D., a professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, has been named CEO and president of the Linder Center of HOPE, a comprehensive mental health center currently under construction in Mason, Ohio.
Robert Silberman '80, chairman and CEO of Arlington, Virginia-based Strayer Education, was named 2007 CEO of the Year by investment research company Morningstar Inc. He was praised for his ability to balance quality academics and business results as head of the for-profit education company, which operates 51 campuses that offer classes catering to working adults.
Alvin Warren '91 was unanimously confirmed as cabinet secretary of the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department. He previously served in Santa Clara Pueblo's tribal government and as chairman of the New Mexico Indian Affairs Commission.
T. Kenji Sugahara '95 is the new executive director of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association, the state's official sanctioning body.
