Hope everyone is enjoying some nice weather finally. It’s 85 degrees and sunny in Philadelphia and here I am on the computer in my dark basement, down to the wire in getting this column written. I never pulled all-nighters in school! Thanks to those of you who have sent in some news—it’s great to hear from some long-lost classmates.

Christine Morris sent in some exciting news. Christine, formerly the executive director of the History Museum in Great Falls, Minnesota, was recently selected by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Montana as the new state executive director. She has more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership and development experience and assumes her new position in April. “This is a charity I believe in. There can never be too much compassion in our world,” Christine wrote. She hopes to renew contacts with Dartmouth alumni living in Montana.

Another author in our midst! Dorian Wilson, a surgeon and liver-transplant specialist living in New Jersey, wrote Reflections: Observations about Life. Taking a page from his book, Dorian reflects: “I decided a long time ago that I wouldn’t write with news unless I thought the news might be of some value. I would like to share this because so much time has passed and at my age I recognize that tomorrow is less certain with each passing day. Besides, there are many I knew long ago with whom, through this book, I might reconnect… even only in spirit.” Excerpts of his book can be found on his Web site www.lovemanifested.net.

Thanks to Lisa Miles McNamara ’78 for writing in with a correction and news from her and her husband, Frank McNamara. Their son Billy attends St. Lawrence University with Jill and Gary Rogers’ son Grant. The sons ended up on the same dorm floor freshman year and remain good friends. Also attending St. Lawrence is Mary Beth Lindelthal’s son Sam. Lisa reports that Frank is at Putnam Investments as general counsel. Are you still sailing, Frank? Frank and I were on the Dartmouth sailing team together our freshman year—Lisa was also a sailor.

This past winter the Hopkins Center staged John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. Critical to the production was music provided by a live acoustic string band. The band was led by New York City-based actor/singer/dancer/storyteller Richard Stillman. Richard was a theater major at Dartmouth.

Congratulations to Susan Dentzer, who was recently honored with the presentation of the prestigious Dartmouth Alumni Award. The award was established in 1964 to honor outstanding alumni with longstanding and meritorious service to Dartmouth, along with career achievement and community service.

Our class Webmaster Eric Nelson sent me this note: “In response to some calls at our reunion for a networking site for the class of ’77, I have started a Dartmouth class of ’77 on LinkedIn, a social networking site for professionals. Visit the site at www.linkedin.com and search for ‘Dartmouth 1977’ under groups.”

Have a great summer and write in.
