Dartmouth led a field of nine colleges in a contest for the President Harding winter sports trophy, held at Lake Placid, N. Y., December 31 and January 1 under the auspices of the Snowbird Club. Dartmouth scored 26 points, McGill was in second place with 20 points, and Williams and Ottawa were tied for third, each scoring 8 points.
There has been some discussion as to the awarding of the trophy due to a technical question concerning the eligibility of J. Hennessey '23 of Dartmouth.
In the skating races Hennessey '23 scored a first in the mile race and took second in the quarter-mile event. In the snowshoe crosscountry race over a three and three-quarter mile course W. Blake '24 completed the distance in the record time of 30 minutes and 4 seconds. He was followed in this race by J. R. Doe '24. Doe placed second and Blake third in the snowshoe dash.
T. B. Farwell '26 placed third in the crosscountry ski race against a strong field, and A. W. Edson '25 finished fifth.
T. D. Frost '25 scored a second in the ski proficiency contest.
