Yarnall, of Vermont, formerly of Dartmouth, was on the mound for the visitors but by hitting three batters, passing two others, and being the victim of three passed balls was prevented from registering effectively against the Dartmouth team.
Dartmouth scored in its half of the first inning when Fox was hit by a pitched ball, took second on Captain Thurston's Texas leaguer, went to third on a fielder's choice which caught Bjorkman at first base, and tallied on an infield grounder by Harris. Further scoring occurred in the fourth inning. Yarnall hit Austin, the first man up, who was forced out at secpnd base by Hudgins' grounder. Hudgins then stole second base and scored when Seavey hit sharply to right field. In each, of the last three innings Dartmouth added another run to its total. Smith opened the sixth session by drawing a pass from Yarnall, stole second, advanced on Austin's hit, and scored when Seavey made his second hit of the day. A single by Harris, a passed ball, and another single by Smith produced a run in the seventh inning, and in the eighth inning Hudgins slammed a long double to left field, took third base on a passed ball, and scored when Lyon singled past second base.
Lyon struck out five of the Vermont batsmen and held the opposition to three scattered hits.

He was replaced in the seventh inning by Lyon after forcing two Brown runs across the plate. Duggan, though pitching wildly, was the leading batter of the day, hitting safely three times.
