ATHLETIC COUNCIL AWARDS VARSITY FOOTBALL LETTERS

Twenty-three varsity football letters, near to the largest number ever awarded, were voted by the Athletic Council at a meeting November 17, to members of the 1925' Dartmouth football team. At the same meeting soccer insignia were awarded to 12 men and the election of K. P. Foster, as captain of this year's Freshman Football team, and of K. W. Robinson, as captain of the Freshman Cross Country team were ratified.

Following are the 23 men on the "Big Green" squad who received their varsity letter for 1925: Allen, Champion, Davis, Diehl, Fusonie, Hardy, Holleran, Horton, Lane, Loomis, Marshall, MacPhail, Oberlander, Parker, Phillips, Reece, Robinson, Rubin, Sage, Smith, Starrett, Straight and Tully.

Of these 23 men 10 secured the D last year. They are: Allen, Diehl, Hardy, Holleran, Horton, Oberlander, Parker, Sage, Smith and Tully. From the men who were awarded their letter 13 graduate this year, so that Dartmouth will have 10 letter men, the same number as last year, with which to build up its 1926 team. The letter men who will be in college next fall are as follows: Davis, Fusonie, Hardy, Holleran, Horton, Lane, MacPhail, Phillips, Reece and Rubin.

No definite date has been assigned for the annual Dartmouth gridiron banquet, but it will take place some time before the Christmas vacation and gold footballs will be presented to the players at that time.

Following are the 12 soccer men who won their insignia for 1925: Captain A. L. Forrest '26, W. T. Collins '26, J. S. N. Allis '27, K. N. Meyercord '27, A. W. Kitts '2B, J. H. D. Lawrence '2B, M. B. Makepeace 28, W. H. Marx '2B, J. L. Merrick '2B, P. C. Woodbridge '29, T. O. Worth '29, and J. E. Zanger '29.

The Athletic Council at a meeting in Hanover, November 19, passed a resolution on the death of W. J. Randall '96, former Dartmouth football coach, and awarded 1929 numerals to 25 men of the Freshman football team.

The resolution passed by the Council was as follows: "Resolved, That in the sudden and untimely death of William J. Randall, the Dartmouth College Athletic Council recognizes and deplores the loss of one who has been for a long period of years intimately connected with Dartmouth football, not only as a great player and a successful coach, but also as a keen and devoted lover of the game.

"That this expression of the Council's appreciation and sympathy be published in THE DARTMOUTH and sent to Mrs. Randall.

The 25 freshmen who received numerals for playing on the 1929 team this fall are: P. A. Babcock, N. M. Bankart, R. W. Black, T. R. Brownee, F. R. Breithut, J. C. Bunge, H. H. Enders, F. P. Foster, G. O. Fowler, W. J. Green, R. S. Harris, R. H. Hemhauser, J. A. Herbert, W. A. Howell, A. W. Lovejoy, R. S. Lyle, J. W. McQuiston, J. R. Meany, H. Moore, J. L. Pratt, R. O. Sherberg, F. E. Small, H. M. Sherman, Jr., A. C. Terrio and R. M. Walsh.
