Two deaths of relatives of former College officials have recently occurred. .
Miss Elizabeth Gilman Brown died in Utica, N. Y., February 16 and was buried in Hanover on February 18. Miss Brown was a granddaughter of Francis Brown, president of Dartmouth 105 years ago; a daughter of the late Prof. Samuel Gilman Brown who at his death was president of Hamilton College; and a sister of Francis Brown who was a trustee of the College and president of Union Theological Seminary and of Julius Brown, a former professor of Physics here and at present a professor at Beirut College in Syria.
The burial service in Hanover was read by the Rev. Dr. John T. Dallas, who was assisted by Prof. C. D. Adams. The bearers, E. F. Clark, H. D. Foster, A. K. Hardy, E. H. Hunter, G. D. Lord and E. B. Watson, were all either former instructors, pupils or close friends of the Brown family.
Mrs. Mary Fuller Chase, the wife of Frederick Chase, a former treasurer of the college, died at the home of her son, Stephen Chase, in Dunedin, Fla., April 9. The body was brought to Hanover on April 13 for burial services at which the Rev. A. W. Vernon officiated.
