George E. Pender, M. D., has been appointed by the board of commissioners of Rockingham county, N. H., as county physician for the city of Portsmouth.

President Coolidge and Captain Horace French, the latter in his 89th year, have been elected honorary members of the Rotary Club at White River Junction, Vt. Captain French it the father of our Samuel P. French.

Dr. L. W. Burbank of Cabot, Vt., has been named as one of the state of Vermont committee to obtain candidates for the Citizens' Military Training Camps.

J. V. Stillings of Surry, N. H., gets his name in the papers as a member of the superior court petit jury for Cheshire county.

A dispatch from Claremont, N. H., to the Boston Herald says: "Through the thoughtfulness of Postmaster Severance, the birds in this section, deprived of their usual spring food by the foot of snow which covers the ground, will not starve. Postmaster Severance purchased grain and chicken feed, and when Rural Carriers John Ayer, Ora Blanchard, and Walter Ainsworth left the office this afternoon they carried a liberal supply of grain to be scattered along the 60 and more miles of their combined routes."

At Peterborough, N. H., on April IS, a son was born to Rev. and Mrs. A. J. Holley.
