Mr. Frederick C. Packard, recently appointed coach of The Players to succeed Mr. Lawrence Paquin, indicates at the outset that the College will have a busy year as far as the stage is concerned. The cast has been chosen and rehearsals are in full swing for the first production, "Captain Applejack," planned for the weekend of the Brown game. After long consideration of the issue, a special committee of undergraduates and faculty decided not to produce a play of Dartmouth origin during Carnival this year, thus overthrowing a tradition almost as old as the winter festival itself. It was felt that none of the plays offered this year warranted production at such a time. "The Chocolate Soldier" will be produced instead of the usual local show in February.
