In addition to the regular lunches, on Saturday, January 9, the Association held a sons' lunch, which was well attended, with about fifty sons! and prospective Dartmouth men present and about the same number of regulars. The ages of the younger generation ran all the way from four years to seventeen, and all were called upon for speeches or songs. Phil Dakin, son of Walt Dakin '06, who is entering Dartmouth next fall, gave the best speech, and was presented with a large picture of Oberlander. Kimmie Urion, one of the four year olds, son of Henry Urion '12, entertained the crowd with"As the Backs Go Tearing By. Ray Herman '06 and Bob Woodcock '10 appeared with delegations of three sons apiece. After each speech the boys were presented with green skull caps with a white "D", and all were given an opportunity to shake hands with Jess Hawley.
At the meeting of the 11th another innovation was tried in having the entertainment by the local Phi Delta Theta fraternity. This had quite a popular appeal, and other fraternities willl be given similar opportunities to perform. The event was in charge of Jimmie Vail '2O.
The following Monday, Father Burke, chaplain at the Great Lakes Naval Station,, entertained us with some of his experiences, and Louis Wolheim, Cornell 'O6, the star in "What Price Glory", made a farewell appearance to tell how much he enjoyed meeting the gang and hated to leave.
The date of the annual meeting is set for Monday night, February 15, at the University Club. The speaker of. the occasion will be none other than our popular Dean Craven Laycock. At that time the election of officers will be held, the following men having been nominated: president, Arba Irwin 02, Ev Marsh '08; vice-president, Sam Banning 'OO, Warren D. Bruner 'l2; secretary-treasurer, Herb Potter 'l5, Bill Terry '2l; members of executive committee, Nat Leverone 'O6, George Leach 'll, Art Myers 'l3, Bill Towler 'l3.
