One of the best games of the present Dartmouth season resulted in a victory for Dartmouth over the strong University of Pennsylvania team in Hanover. May 14. Carver, pitching for Dartmouth, was unsteady at the opening of the contest and spotted Captain Long, who was on the mound for the Philadelphians, a three-run lead.

The bases were filled by the first three Pensylvania men to face Carver, Thomas and Fields singling and Thompson reaching first by grace of a Stevens error. Tremper's two-base hit and another single by Lindsay scored the Red and Blue runners.

Dartmouth made its first successful attempt to overhaul the Pennsylvania lead in the sixth inning, when Owl singled, stole second, and scored on a hit by Picken. In the eighth inning Owl again started the Green attack, hitting safely for the third time in as many attempts. Hudgins advanced Owl by means of another hit and both men scored when Stanley hit for two bases. Picken, who followed Stanley at bat, was' passed, and Captain Michelini, pinch hitting for Elliott then singled, and Stevens, following him tripled, and five more Dartmouth runs had been added to the score.

A brief Pennsylvania rally in the ninth inning was checked when Cole, who had advanced to third base, was held there without scoring. For Dartmouth Carver pitched a steady game after his wobbly first inning, allowing but four hits in the remaining eight frames, and striking out four batters. Captain Long, of Pennsylvania, gave way to Kreuz, during the eighth inning Dartmouth assault.
