Also counting heavily on sophomores to bolster the cross-country squad is Coach Ellie Noyes. Last fall he had an undefeated freshman team, led by Dick Hogarty, and he expects at least five of these men to step up to the varsity.

The Big Green harriers are headed this fall by Captain Michael Morrissey, a hard driving distance runner who took third in the Heptagonal Mile last year. Behind him are three veterans Walt Clarkson, Tom Ritner and Wally Ashnault.

Among the sophomore group Coach Noyes expects Dick Hogarty, Dave Miller, Jim Hall, Ted Storrs and Paul Merriken all to move into varsity competition.

As far as the schedule goes, the Indian runners have four dual meets, the Heptagonals and the IC4A meet on tap this autumn. Coach Noyes rates the West Pointers as the toughest opponent on the schedule and feels that if we can do well against Army, the team should have a successful season.
