On the evening of October 4 occurred the formal dedication of the Henry Whittemore School in Waltham, the bronze tablet over the main entrance reading "In Honor of Henry Whittemore, Soldier, Educator and Public Spirited Citizen of Waltham, Honored and Beloved by the People of Our City." Mr. Whittemore was superintendent of schools in Waltham from 1883 to 1898, and then principal of the Framingham Normal School to 1917, when he retired from active service.
