The following is taken from the BostonTranscript of November 8:
"Ralph S. Bartlett, who spends a large part of each year in foreign travel, has just returned to Boston. He was in France during May, and from there visited the Scandinavian countries and the Arctic Sea, north of Norway, later going to Finland and Russia. His travels through Finland and the Baltic States, which before the war were a part of Russia, made a trip of two months, and he visited Esthonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, affording interesting study and unusual experiences, close to the Russian frontier. He found that the American, or even the English, tourist is a rare individual in these Baltic States. Vilna and Warsaw in Poland were also included in Mr. Bartlett's itinerary, as was Cracow, which he found to be a delightful old city with beautiful architecture and much culture. Following a few days slpent in Vienna and a short time in Venice, the traveler from Boston went directly to Paris, to remain until sailing for home. Mr. Bartlett's travels in past years have taken him to all parts of the globe,. including places so remote that comparatively few travelers visit them."
Rev. Dr. Russell H. Stafford was installed pastor of the Old South church in Boston October 18. The daily papers announced that the Rev. Dr. Ozora S. Davis, president of Chicago Theological Seminary and moderator of the National Council of Congregational Churches, delivered the sermon at the installation, taking for his topic, "The Credentials of the Church." This installation interests '89 from another angle. Dr. Stafford came from St. Louis, where he was pastor of the Pilgrim Congregational church, of which, for many years, Chester Curtis has been an active member.
Wellman attended the annual convention of the General Agents' Association of the National Life Insurance Company in Banff, in September. Mrs. Wellman and Miss Harriet accompanied him and after the convention they went on to the Pacific Coast, visiting Vancouver, Portland, and other cities.
Five of the class, Doane, Frost, Robie, Wellman, and Blakely, attended the annual "Afterthe-Game Dinner" at the Boston City Club, October 22. Noyes was on a hunting trip in Maine, but just before dinner this telegram came from him: "Listened in on the game while in the heart of the Maine woods. Congratulations and best wishes."
