Dartmouth's swordsmen won another victory in Hanover February 26 by defeating the foilsmen of Bowdoin College by a score of 7 bouts to 2. LaFrance, captain of the Bowdoin team, won both of his team's victories, subduing E. F. Lilley '28 and R. A. Rockhill '28, of Dartmouth, each by a score of 5 to 4. For Dartmouth Captain Cetrulo won from both La- France and Altenburg, of Bowdoin, each time by a score of 5 to 1.
At Princeton, March 1, the fencers from Hanover continued their successful season by defeating the Tiger sword wielders 8 to S. Dartmouth won the foil bouts 6 to 3 and tied the sabre bouts 2 to 2. Captain Cetrulo, of Dartmouth won five of the Dartmouth team's victories, taking three of the foils bouts and both of the sabre events. E. F. Lilley, Jr., '28 won two bouts with the foils and G. W. Wheland '28 won the other match with that weapon.
The first defeat suffered by the Dartmouth fencers was meted out to them by the Columbia team which took the meet held in New York March 2 by a score of 7 to 6. Columbia outscored Dartmouth 5 to 4 in the foils bouts and the teams tied in the sabre bouts, each winning two. Cetrulo, of Dartmouth won all five of his bouts, three with the foils and two with the sabre. Dartmouth's other victory in the foils bouts was scored by Rockhill.
Against the University of Syracuse fencers the Dartmouth team repeated the victory of last year, March 11, and won by a score of 8 to S. Cetrulo was again the center of the Green team's strength winning four bouts and losing but one. In the foils he was defeated by Solomon, of Syracuse, who was in turn defeated by Lilley, of Dartmouth. Lilley also defeated Wexler, of Syracuse, as Wheland did also. Plank, of Syracuse, who lost both to Cetrulo and Wheland defeated Lilley. In the sabres bouts Cetrulo won two more victories, defeating Dutton and Wexler, of Syracuse; Wexler then defeated Selig, of Dartmouth, and Dutton defeated Lilley.
Cornell was defeated 7 to 6 in a fencingmeet in Hanover March 13, the Dartmouth swordsmen taking the sabres contests 3 to 1 and losing the foils matches 5 to 4. The score was the same as that of last year's meeting between the two teams. Captain Cetrulo, of Dartmouth accounted for all of his team's points in the foils bouts, defeating Chardon, Robbins, and Pirone, of Cornell. Lilley, of Dartmouth defeated Robbins, and Chardon, of Cornell, defeated Lilley and Rockhill. Lilley and Rockhill were also defeated by Good, of Cornell, and Rockhill was again defeated by Pirone. In the sabres Cetrulo defeated Chardon and Good, Selig, of Dartmouth, defeated Good and was defeated by Chardon.
The Cornell meet closed the season for the Dartmouth fencers who won six of the eight contests scheduled losing only to Columbia by a score of 7 to 6 and to the Navy by a score of 8 to 5.
