During the exercises marking the conclusion of the 158 th academic year at Dartmouth eleven honorary degrees were awarded to men eminent in many fields. The recipients of the degrees were presented by Professor Gordon Ferrie Hull and the degrees conferred by President Ernest Martin Hopkins whose characterizations of the men so honored are quoted below.

It is a gratification that to these qualities which, win personal esteem can be given the official recognition of enrolling you among your friends in the Dartmouth constituency, significant of which is the presentation of this degree of Master of Arts.
