Sickness has marred the chances of a successful cross-country season for Dartmouth. After being decisively licked by a superior Harvard team on October 26, Captain Bob Monahan was lost to the team by illness. In spite of that fact, the team took second place in the quadrangular meet which was held on the Van Cortlandt Park course in New York city on November 10, running second to Cornell and defeating Columbia and Pennsylvania. The margin of difference between Dartmouth and Cornell teams was not great, so that there was some hope of a victory over Cornell at Ithaca on November 16. Two of the best men on the team were unable to take part in this race, however, and with the continued absence of Captain Monahan the team was beaten by the score of 19-36.
