The class has suffered a great loss by the recent death of Charles L. Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter, accompanied by Mrs. Carpenter, Dr. Galbreath, and the class secretary, was near the end of a three weeks' canoe trip in Quebec province, Canada, and after two hard days, due to head winds and many portages, made an early camp beyond Bark Lake Depot. Carpenter seemed rested at night, but during the night suffered a severe heart attack. He rallied, but later had a relapse and passed away quickly. The funeral services were held at Andover, Mass., and were attended by classmates Blakey, Cushman, Gage, Howland, George E. Johnson, Quint, Rice, and Sanborn. An obituary notice will follow later.
